ISO/TS 16949:2002 - Second Edition

Hub Zone – The "HUB Zone" Empowerment Contracting program was enacted into law as part of the Small Business Reauthorization Act of 1997. The program falls under the auspices of the U.S. Small Business Administration. The program encourages economic development in historically underutilized business zones - "HUB Zones" - through the establishment of preferences. For over 10 years JBE has leveraged this certification to grow its business organically.

SBA – (8a) - This program provides eligible firms with greater access to the resources they need to grow and develop their businesses. This, in turn, improves their ability to compete on an equal footing with other firms in the mainstream American economy. The SBA 8(a) Business Development (BD) program is a 9-year program designed to assist socially and economically disadvantaged companies.

Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) – Are special commercial and industrial areas in or near ports of entry where foreign and domestic merchandise, including raw materials, components, and finished goods may be brought in without being subject to payment of customs duties. Merchandise brought into these zones may be stored, sold, graded, cleaned, or otherwise manipulated prior to re-export or entry in the national customs territory.

National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) – Is an organization providing a direct link between corporate America and minority owned business and is comprised of a network of 38 affiliated regional councils across the country (including SCMBDC), all of whom provide minority-business certification and business development opportunities. The National Minority Supplier Development Council, is one of the country's leading business membership organizations. It was chartered in 1972 to provide increased procurement and business opportunities for minority businesses of all sizes.
